THE ARTIST
Born in Norway and based in London, Filip Clements is a singer and songwriter with a point to prove. Growing up in a musical family, he cut his teeth writing and self-releasing tracks on Soundcloud, while also working with iconic Swedish band Kent before taking a risk to return to London and follow his dream of becoming an acclaimed solo artist in his own right.
Linking up with The Wombats’ bassist Tord Knudsen was a turning point. Driving between his parents’ house and the studio, Clements found inspiration for ‘Corners’ - the first track they wrote together - channeling a sense of movement and potential into the euphoric chorus, Clements resolving “to break these chains and keep going higher”. It would prove to be the catalyst.
Developing a prolific partnership, the pair set about writing upwards of 60 tracks together, honing a sound that balanced Clements’ darker, rock-leaning sensibilities with Knudsen’s strong indie pop flair. Riffing on inspirations as wide ranging as Radiohead, The Police, The Weeknd, David Bowie, and The Killers, they revelled in the creative frictions which emerged, narrowing down to a selection of eleven tracks that would become Soft Apocalypse.
Filip Clements describes his debut album Soft Apocalypse as a universe. Bold, expansive and shimmering with possibility, it is also a universe of contrasts – light and darkness, confidence and vulnerability, brooding indie rock influences and vibrant pop hooks. Written, produced and recorded alongside a stellar line-up of collaborators, including Grammy-winners Catherine Marks (boygenius, Ed O’Brien), Martin Terefe (Yungblud, Robbie Williams) and Tord Knudsen (The Wombats), Soft Apocalypse is a dynamic introduction to an artist not afraid to do things differently.
Set to be released in September 2026, Soft Apocalypse is a striking and original debut from an artist embracing life, taking risks and doing it on his own terms.
For Filip Clements, this is only the beginning.
